What is Mastic Gum?
Mastic gum is a sap picked off the Mastic tree – which is native to the Greek island, Chios.
Mastic farmers literally make cuts into the tree and wait a few weeks. They come back and collect the dried sap before putting it through a cleaning and filtering process.
So Mastic gum is 100% natural and has a long history of use in the mediterranean. And is still used widely in modern times.
It really has a fascinating history, multiple health benefits, and wars were even fought over it.
But we're interested in it for its hardness. It's at least 10x harder than regular gum and the extra resistance is why Mastic is commonly used as a jawline exerciser.
✅ PROS
- 💎 10x Harder Than Regular Gum – Mastic gum is significantly harder than Falim gum. This means it's a better workout for your masseter muscles You'll see visible changes to your jawline much faster.
- 🌲 100% Natural – there's absolutely nothing added to it. It's picked from a tree, cleaned, and then shipped to you.
- 🚗 Chew Anywhere, Anytime – you can chewing gum while you're working, driving, training or doing whatever. Rubber exercisers like Jawzrsize are a little more awkward... you usually have to dedicate part of your day to using it
- ♻️ Re-usable & Lasts Forever – this might sound weird... but you can chew the same piece of Mastic gum for many days without it becoming softer. In fact it becomes harder!
- 🥕 It's a "SuperFood" – this is why mastic is so valuable. It's has many natural enzymes and antioxidants that are used to treat stomach ulcers, reflux, for dental hygiene, as a skin regeneration agent, and for other ailments of the peptic system.
- 👅 Doesn't Lose its Taste – Mastic never loses its fresh, cedar taste
- 😎 Not Embarrassing to Use in Public – Mastic Gum packages fit in your pocket and you can workout your jaw whenever it suits you, and nobody will even know it! Obviously you can't hide that you're using Jawzrsize
- 🦴 Zero Joint Damage: chewing a small hard piece of gum is a natural movement and texture for your jaw, teeth and gums. You won't stress any muscles, joints or get TMJ. I can't say the same for some of the other jawline exercisers.
❌ CONS
- 💰 Not Cheap – it takes over a year to grow and harvest Mastic Gum from the Mastic Tree. There's a limit to the supply on the market because it can't be mass produced in a factory.
- 🧩 Different Shapes & Sizes – it's not made in a factory. Pieces come in different shapes, sizes and densities because it is a 100% natural product.
- 😋 Only 1 Flavour – Mastic gum has one natural flavor
What is Project Jawline?
Project Jawline is a brand of mastic gum sold out of Los Angeles. It was one of the first companies to brand mastic gum as a "chewing gum for your jawline".
Because of its unique branding at the time, it picked up a lot of momentum and interest back in early 2020.
This was also the start of the Covid-19 era, when everyone was getting self-conscious about their appearance. Looking at your face all day in a video call led to record high number of plastic surgery.
✅ PROS
- 🔥 It's Effective: Proejct Jawline is mastic gum, just like Mastic Gum. It has many of the same benefits and it's very effective.
- 💪 Builds the Right Muscle: it builds the lower portion of the masseter muscle- the part you want to!
- 👨🎓 You Can Workout Anywhere, Anytime: chew while you're working, studying, driving or working out.
- 🥦 It's a Super Food: greco gum is mastic chewing gum and has all the benefits you'd expect.
- 👅 Doesn't Lose its Taste – Mastic never loses its fresh, cedar taste
- 🦴 Zero Joint Damage: no TMJ or stress on your joints.
❌ CONS
- 🪨 Can Be Gritty: the main downside of Project Jawline is the quality of the mastic crystals. They contain small impurities, like grains of sand, which could damage your teeth.
- 💵 Expensive: for its quality, Project Jawline is kind of expensive. And that's before you factor in the high cost of shipping!
- 🚢 Slow Shipping: speaking of shipping, it's slow. It's not unusual for your package to take 2-3 weeks to arrive
- 🪵 Always Out-of-Stock: they don't seem to ever have much supply on hand.
- 📋 It Runs Out: mastic gum is re-usable so you can chew one piece of separate occasions. However, most people don't do that. Once you chew through your pack, you'll have to order more.
- 😋 The Taste Isn't For Everyone: Mastic has a fresh cedar flavor. But not everyone likes the taste. Most people's taste buds are used to the sweet mint flavors of regular gum
- 🗿 Awkward Container: you can't fit it in your pocket and take it with you... which is one of the greatest benefits of chewing gum as a jawline exerciser.
- ☎️ TERRIBLE Customer Service: once they've got your money they just stop caring. Don't expect a reply to your emails, or god forbid, a refund!

SUMMARY: Mastic Gum vs Project Jawline
And the winner is... Mastic Gum! It depends on your budget of course and your goals.
Project Jawline's mastic gum has a higher % of soft pieces in it, about 50%. That means that half of the pack doesn't even give your jaw a workout. This isn't unusual, many brands don't bother to filter out the softer pieces.
Mastic gum is about 10% soft pieces. It's really hard to filter out that last 10% of pieces.
The problem with our mastic gum... is that it's always sold out. It's a natural good and we have to wait for next years harvest to get more. 👇
